Summer is almost here and Time to Check Things Off The Bucket List. All the chores that have been adding up are finally being completed. Trim in the bathroom, weed-eaters, and Marque Sign for the Church, among other things. It's a good feeling to accomplish these goals and move onto other things that need worked on. Well, I Broke My WoodMizer Sawmill. After Building some Solar Panel Protectors, trying to adjust the Drive Belt on the sawmill, I Broke the Clutch Cable. There appears to have been some damage done to the existing cable prior to putting the Sawmill together, because we placed a cable tie near the damaged cable housing in the beginning. It finally broke, and a New Cable Ordered. Finally, thank goodness, LOL. We have Finished the Garden Fence and used Material we found on the Homestead. Re-engineering materials provided helps to maintain the diverse climate we live in and allows you to get very creative in your building. Having a Sawmill is also a huge plus. Our first mill around 6K U.S., but allowed us to build what was needed and paid for itself in the first and second build, after 11 buildings later, LOL. We are Using Materials Found in the Woodland to Build our Garden Fence. Having a garden requires keeping out the neighborhood critters who like to have a "mid-night" salad with fresh vegetables, lol. We begin the process of Cutting, Stripping, Burning and Crafting a Woodland Fence for a Garden Barrier for Jennifer. The materials are resourced from the Homestead and some are parts of the log that would be normally disposed of in some manner, but also have multiple uses. Keeping out the local critters is the main purpose of the barrier. We have Built our own Workshop from Select Cut Trees on the homestead. Having our own Sawmill Reduces Cost and helps manage the Woodland. Having a Workshop that is multifunctional is very useful in the preparation of future projects. Having tools need located in one general area is a great asset. Every Season Has its own twist, and April in East Tennessee is "RAMP" season. Ramps are in the Garlic and Onion family and are prized by chefs for their strong flavors in cooking.
