Building a Workbench with Sawmill Lumber is the Best You'll Ever Build. Generally true dimension, and possibly higher grade. Having our own Sawmill makes things much better and certainly cheaper than Big Box Stores but you have to build with shrinkage in mind as you go. Taking this into account can save you a lot of money and afford many projects without braking the bank. The Workshop is Coming Together. The Insulation and Wiring are Complete and Now It's Time to Build a Workbench. Most Material for the Workshop has been resourced from the homestead forest and saves us a bundle. In the beginning a Tree is Felled and cut into logs. Next, the Logs are moved to an area and separated in lengths and species. Logs are brought to the Sawmill and cut into desired specs needed for the project. They are then dried and used at a fraction of the cost of Big Box stores unless you are buying high grade stock for furniture etc... Our Fence is Done! Landscaping looks good and adds character to the homestead. Now let's Build a Workshop Bench. We are Milling 2x2 stock material for the framework. We are using Storm Damaged Trees to make a Crazy Front Yard Landscape that makes the Cabin look better. We also begin Logging Hillbilly Style to transport logs to the Mill. This size logs are hard to come by so a small transport fee is well worth the result. We should render about 1500-2000 board feet from this load.
